What’s In My Glam Bag? IPSY Review for May

I love experimenting with makeup, so in high school, my best friend at the time told me about this awesome subscription make up service that I had to try. At only $10 a month (at the time–now it’s $12 for the Glam Bag), it was a great way to test new products. This was my first introduction to IPSY, and I have loved the concept and company since my first Glam Bag. I just recently decided to renew my subscription again, so here’s a review for everything I got in my May bag.

Bag

IPSY's May Glam Bag is an ombre of light pink and golden orangeThis bag is so cute, and I love the ombre colors! The theme for this month from IPSY is “Get that Glow,” and I definitely get that vibe from this bag. I love these little bags because they’re the perfect size for packing a few things to take with you during the day or on a quick trip somewhere. I also use my past month’s bags for various other storage things like keeping all of my hair ties in one place or storing my jewelry when I go on a trip. Overall rating: 5/5

Tarte SEA H2O Gloss Lip Gloss in Below Deck

lip glossNormally I love Tarte products, but this one was just average for me. I’m already not a huge fan of lipgloss because I like matte colors for my lips, and I usually want more color than the gloss has so I tend to go for a lipstick instead. I like to give all of my IPSY products a try before dismissing them, so I tried this gloss out before work one day. There wasn’t very much color in the gloss and it was extremely sticky. As someone who wears her hair down 80% of the time, a super sticky gloss just doesn’t work for me. Plus, I just don’t like the feeling of overly sticky products on my face. This is definitely a great product…just not for me. Overall rating: 3/5

Goldfaden MD Wake Up Call Overnight Regenerative Facial Treatment

Goldfaden MD Wake Up Call Overnight Regenerative Facial TreatmentAny time I get a skincare product like this, I am warry. My face breaks out very easily, so I usually stick to specific products that I know work for my skin. Despite all of that, I decided to try this moisturizer out because the IPSY reviews for it were almost all glowing. I put this on after I showered at night, and the formula wasn’t greasy or heavy at all–a huge benefit for me since my skin also tends to get pretty oily. When I woke up, my skin looked like it cleared up overnight. It’s only been about a week of using this product, but so far I love it. Overall rating: 4.5/5

TheBalm Cosmetics Autobalm Day 2 Nite in Wall St.

eye shadowWhen I saw this in my bag preview, I wasn’t all that excited. I love a good eyeshadow color, but I have SO many of this color eye shadow in my collection. I’m sure this brand’s color is great and slightly different from the other shadows I have, but to me it looks like every other neutral eyeshadow I have. If I didn’t have so many of this color, I’m sure I would be a lot more excited. The formula and durability of the shadow is average as well, so I wasn’t super impressed with it. Overall rating: 2/5

Nails.inc Nail Polish in Primrose Walk

nail polishI love this nail polish color! When I was younger, I loved wearing bright colors, but now I’m more of a neutral gal. This is the perfect amount of color without being too crazy. It still looks like a neutral color with a little bit of flair. This mauve color is perfect for my skin tone as well, so I love it! The nail polish brush inside is also great because it’s slightly curved, making it easier to paint my nondominant hand and toes. The formula is also really nice because I only needed two coats of polish to get great coverage. I would definitely recommend this polish! Overall rating: 5/5

NIU Body Pina Colada Sugar Lip Polish

NUI Body Pina Colada Sugar Lip Polish

This sugar scrub is AMAZING. I’m a sucker for pineapple and coconut-scented and flavored products, so I already knew I was going to love this. After I rubbed it into my lips and washed it off, I could instantly feel how soft my lips were. It’s recommended to immediately put on some sort of lip balm, but I waited a little too long and my lips dried pretty quickly. So, if you want to try this product, I recommend following the directions and putting lip balm on quickly after washing it off. Other than my own user error, this scrub is awesome! Overall rating: 5/5
